Why did I write this book?

I know what it's like to have no idea how to work remotely. For 14 years, I worked as a radio news reporter in cities like Portland, Seattle and San Francisco. Then one day, I was laid off. Bam! I had no clue how to support myself.

Through trial and error, and lots of struggling, I finally figured out how to make a sustainable income I can take anywhere. My dream is to travel the seas in my sailboat and explore national parks in my Chevy Astro van.

Since my initial struggles, I've steadily built a new career as a travel and human interest writer (published in Fodors, Marie Claire, The Lonely Planet, Good Housekeeping, etc.), and started a blog called The Wayward Home, which is all about alternative living.

My passion is to help you figure out how to work remotely, too, whether you want to live in a van, sailboat, or RV.
